John B. CAUDILL [170] is referred to by some as ‘John Benjamin‘ CAUDILL.  To the best of my knowledge, no documentary evidence exists to chronicle this as fact, therefore, I take it as anecdotal until such time.

John was born August 24, 1802, the eldest male child, to Jeremiah CAUDILL [169] and Sarah Jane ADAMS [108].  Jeremiah and Sarah had nine children.

Jeremiah and Sarah acquired 140 acres of land in 1808 which was situated approximately 1/2 mile east of Billings Hill Baptist Church in Traphill, Wilkes County, NC.  I surmise that John was raised in this area and not knowing where they lived between the time of his birth in 1802 and 1808 when they bought the property.  At the time when resided here, the area was known as Graves Creek.  That name is now archaic and has been replaced by Sparks Creek.
